In 2020 I started to feel safe using 'they/them' pronouns. I'd been thinking about it for a few years, but a combination of circumstances this year made it feel right. I saw trailblazers go forth and live courageously, I met others like me working in tech, and then I was inside most of the year anyway so I felt free to be me a bit more.

This is a janky little interactive experience I crafted while I plucked up the courage to tell people in my real life. I found I was really anxious about the possibility that I might have to 'correct' someone, or even just having what I saw as the ~audacity of asking for different pronouns. Coding for pleasure has always been a bit of a safe space I can retreat to, something that gives me self esteem, and can encourage that elusive flow state - so it was nice to have something to tinker on, even though the code is a spaghetti mess and I will not be publishing it on github! And even if it's not a real 'game' or even 'works'.
